yorkspace.com — This is an article about a script that was created to remove unwanted software from a Dell PC. It can be run on a new PC to get rid of all the trialware that comes pre-installed. It runs completely unattended!

Why do customers of these OEM pc's let them get away with that, People get their computers home and they barely run. Try decrapping an hp/compac media center pc, there are almost 30 extra process's running, A friend bought a 3ghz dual core and it would barely run office!!

What's wrong with Dell? It is impossible to build the same PC for less in the mid- to low-end range, and that's important for people on a tight budget. Now a Dell XPS where they make a much higher profit margin might be a bad idea. I have an XPG (Gen 2) and it seems to be killing its hardware. In the first year the CD-ROM drive failed (they replaced it under warranty), and yesterday the back-up drive (a WD that I installed) died.

Hey, sounds cool, using dell-restore (I'm too damn lazy making an own install cd atm. and as I often use bleeding-edge soft, I need a reinstall about every 3 month;D) always puts the same crap back on my Laptop.

Man, what is going on here. All of the comments containing negative commentary on Dell computers have a major - digg. Dell's PR company is doing a great job of hiding all negative commentary toward Dell.

Yeah, Dell really sucks for putting all the pre-loaded crap on their computer, glad I never went the Dell way.

check ebay, type in "dell xp reinstallation" and for a few bucks you can have a fresh os install.

I just read through every post because I bought a Dell over the phone about an hour ago. I just called my sales rep & he said he would have to chage me $10 to send out the windows xp media edition. He said I could speak to customer service, which I did. She is sending me a copy for free. However, after browsing message boards someone posted that I need these too: (they still don’t send you your DVD movie software and Burning software unless you contact them again and ask for it.)My OS is xp media. So can I use the de-crapifier for that? I am going to call to have them send me the DVD software too, but I wonder if there is more that I need. Who knows? I wish there was some popular proven download on cnet.com that took care of that.I see that many people post on here, that this will be a great tool, but I don't see many posting with the particular dell that they used it with etc, & their experiences. Can I hear about that???? Thanks, Jason ...Fee free to contact me too with any advice.
