apcmag.com — Linux is burdened with "enterprise crap" that makes it run poorly on desktop PCs, says prominent kernel developer Con Kolivas. Fascinating interview on the problems with LOTD and how Microsoft has crushed innovation.

Apple 'got it' about usability and did to the linux desktop in 3 years what the entire open source community couldn't do in 30. Wake up and smell the reality folks. Apple is built on Linux, and it only took them 5 years to figure out how to make it so easy, so friendly, so functional that it pulls people from windows.

Because Windows isn't free and isn't as good as my setup.Oh but the one thing I'm jealous about is all that free anti-spyware, anti-adware, anti-malware, and anti-virus software. You Windows guys really have that pegged.

"I think the developer's complaint is all about ego. . . his own."Okay. Picture yourself making a recommendation to your boss, being rejected again and again, and then find out later that your boss got a bunch of credit for your idea. Tell me then that you wouldn't be pissed.

Yep, free BSD, Mach Kernel and video postscript. We shouldn't forget that Safari is really the K-Browser in disguise. It's amazing that Apple has stolen just about 100% of everything and they have a rep for being great original innovators.
