bad character, short fused..........yes Useless footballer? Doubt whether you've seen Cassano play. Undoubted talent, shame it didn't work out yet but he can still produce. Italian players usually tend to get as they get older (see Panucci, Cannavaro, Toni, Pirlo, Grosso, Zambrota, etc)
