tech-army.org — Pentium processors have never broken the 4 GHZ barrier. According to a report by VR-Zone it is believed that Intel will finally hit the 4 GHZ barrier. The report says Bloomfield, one of Intel's upcoming 45nm quad-core processors based on the Nehalem architecture, will be clocked at speeds exceeding 4GHz when it comes out in 2008.

There will be no need for higher clock speeds when software are able to harness the power of dual/quad etc...just a waste of power!!

By 2008, quad cores will be out too. Perhaps we can expect a quad core processor running a 4ghz each for a potential processing speed of 16ghz
