apachefriends.org — XAMPP will install Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl for Linux, Win32, OSX and Solaris and all you have to do is run the XAMPP install. This works great for Solaris and Win32 from my experience! Dec 20, 2005 View in Crawl 4

i use xampp for offline developing when i'm on the road. i wouldn't use it for a live site. +digg

XAMMP is great to carry around on a thumb drive for when you feel like doing some work on the go.
