i'm all about rpg's, but why does it seem like the majority of them are still focused on the swords and wizards, fantasy type setting? i'd rather see Bio Ware use this same engine implementing d20 modern settings, weapons, and character classes. i think if it were brought up to a modern setting more people would be excited to play. i feel the same way about mmo's, i would never really be interested in playing WoW, but if blizzard released a World of Starcraft i'd be all about it. i realize that this is simply a matter of preference, but i feel that the rpg genre is unevenly skewed towards the fantasy set when it clearly does not have to be this way.

the Linux and Mac ports were relatively trivial ports for NWN because it was already a full OpenGL engine, so only initialization code and videos needed work. everyone who bought the game could freely install either the Windows or Linux version without much effort.saying it didn't bring them "enough cash to justify it" is disingenuous at best.they evidently just don't care about the fans of the game who bought it specifically for Linux like myself.

"Neverwinter Nights II is easily one of the most anticipated titles for the PC market this year. "Not since EA just announced a new 3D client for UO its not.

@jbarnett: they're using Bioware's engine and tools. If Bioware wants to do things the Microsoft way, Obsidian has no choice.

Obsidian is making the game not Bioware, unlike the original NWN.But, they are saying a lot of the old people are now over in Obsidian working on this sequel along with others from Baulder's Gate, and Ice Wind Dale. The thing is Obsidian's last game was Kotor II, they didnt make the original. They rushed the game to the shelf unfinished (technically without an ending), all at the request of Lucas Arts to coincide with Star Wars Episode 2.I'll admit I was a little worried when I heard Obsidian was doing NWN 2.

Try Guild Wars. Its a Competitive Online Role Playing Game. You hook up with say 7 other random people to form a team, each doing a different job, and go off to complete team based missions or compete in a world league against other teams. You don't even have to do the long endless rpg business of upgrading items or attributes. If you want to compete against other live teams you can immediately create top level/geared characters to quickly join a match.

All that i'm worried about is that the publisher would want them to release early (before X'mas). I wouldn't want to have another KOTOR 2 cuts and bugs with this game.Oh yeah, I do wish it would run on my geforce MX! :P
