uniformvelocity.com— In a continuing theological battle at my place of employment, there was a new episode today in the ongoing self-imposed challenge of one co-worker to convert the godless heathen.

I've found in my life that those who seem to find the greatest need for "logical" arguments are those who display the least desirable side of a given religion. I simply tell those who try to argue with me "Look. I'll watch you for a year. If you handle what life throws at you in that year better than anyone else within my circles, AND I find that your character is better, or radically improved from what it is now, I'll listen."I have yet to find myself with the need to listen to one of them. Call me judgmental, but a religion's purpose should be to improve one's LIFE skills, not just those skills tied to argument.
I worked with one such idiot for many years. I respected that she held religious beliefs and never tried to argue her out of them, but she could not leave well enough alone and gave me daily doses of this type of s**te, which I patiently put up with for the longest time. The last straw came when the idiot said, "I know you believe in (insert lunacy here), but I want you to know that only Jeebus is teh true gawd, bla bla bla." Since I had never once discussed my beliefs with her except to say "I'm an atheist and I prefer science to superstition," that completely riled me. I would have punched her in the snoot but that might have led to immediate termination. However, the tenor of my reply left her in small doubt about the future safety of her snoot and her continued employment. Why these religiowingnuts feel completely justified in harassing others is beyond me.

I always want to help these kind of individuals experience a personal revelation in regards to the "miracle" of gravity.
