gallup.com— While a majority of Americans continue to believe the seriousness of global warming is either correctly portrayed in the news (29%) or underestimated (28%), a record high 41% now say it is exaggerated.

It does, but I think industrialization has changed the normal cycle significantly. We are pumping out a lot of CO2, and this could disrupt this pattern, even cause some drastic changes. Don't be scared, just be informed. :)
"I didn't say Eir called herself that"I must have misunderstood, who were you referring to in the second half of this statement?Glynth: "taking issue with Christians for proselytizing is silly in general, let alone coming from someone who calls herself a Christian."From my comment history, you should see that I do not attack Christians, never "to no end", and I don't excuse myself, but that I attack simply arguments. And if they're polite or not, I still attack the arguments."It answers the first question from that comment, and nothing else."I've attempted to answer your previous questions, but when I did you accused me of skirting around the questions. Could you split up the questions you'd like me to answer so I can be sure to answer each of them and you know which answers what questions?
"there's no way to tell who has or hasn't dugg a comment."Yes, you can. The comment has no buries. Thus, I didn't bury it. Not that it really matters for the long term, since it may be buried in the future and you could even claim I just didn't bury it as a stunt so I could say I didn't."I don't care nor have a desire often to claim I'm a Christian, I just do when it comes up."That's your prerogative, though I'd be remiss if I didn't say that the Bible encourages speaking up about your faith. That doesn't mean you have to bring it up all the time; I know I don't."'You might as well not even be one if you think your faith doesn't have any more truth than any other.'"I'm one because I believe in my faith more than any other. Sure, and the reason I do that is because I was raised Christian. But that doesn't I have, nor that we really can, balance and judge which religions have more truths than others. Have you?"I encourage everyone to look into all faiths and belief systems, including atheism. It's impossible for most to truly KNOW which is the most true, but they can and SHOULD believe that whichever one they join has the most truths, and there is nothing wrong with telling others that this is your belief. This conflicts with your comment: "... don't ignorantly think their religion is founded on any more truth than any other religion ...""This is faith, not fact." "This is faith, not fact." etc.Yes, and? What, everything someone of faith might say that contradicts what some "experts" might say is automatically wrong? Not everything the "experts" say is fact, either, and disagreeing with them doesn't automatically make you a flat-Earther or anti-Science. Those are just labels used to inspire disdain and dismiss them without discussion.Next, let's dive into some semantics.
Okay, lydecker, I don't think we have as much to argue about as it first appeared. I still find your defense of eir reprehensible, find you misguided on many issues, and find some of your other comments overly hostile before you know where others truly stand, but I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you simply haven't seen and really thought on just how stubbornly closed to other ideas (putting words in my mouth, assuming the worst of those that disagree and continuing the assumption even when proven wrong, etc.) that people like eir have been (and more specifically, eir herself - this isn't putting her into a box but based on actual behavior).I strongly suggest you rethink your support of her, but I won't back you into a corner over it here. This thread has become tiresome and I've other things to do, as I'm sure you do as well.
"and find some of your other comments overly hostile before you know where others truly stand,"Could you please cite evidence of what you are referring to?"I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you simply haven't seen and really thought on just how stubbornly closed to other ideas"I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you simply don't understand that I'm not at all closed to other ideas. Could you please cite evidence of what you are referring to?"assuming the worst of those that disagree and continuing the assumption even when proven wrong"I haven't assumed anything about you at all in this thread, if you'll see I rarely even referenced you. You shouldn't assume I was talking about you.I don't blindly support anyone, or blindly condemn them. Eir has her good points and her flaws. Do not think that by clarifying some of eir's behaviors I condone everything about her.
Would you prefer if we called it "global climate extremeness" or "free pussy"?Hey redneck, consider for a second that you are right. The world isn't going to end tomorrow because of CO2 in the atmo. Does that still give you the right to be a dick and pollute your nieces and nephews into an oblivion?Selfish prick.
I know this is an old thread, but I was commenting explicitly on the notion that MOST scientists believe that ANY of the global warming is not manmade.Your paper shows TWO scientists who claim that HALF of global warming is not manmade. Really, try to keep up ...
"Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it!" - Mark Twain. It doesn't seem to matter much who is wrong or who is right. We'll see; and if it gets too warm there is probably as much that we can do about it as if it were to go the other way. There is no question that dramatic changes in climate do occur whether man made or not. You only have to look at the ruins of great civilizations either overcome by desertification or swaddled in jungle vines to know that people often have to change behavior, adapt or move on. The interesting thing about human nature in such times of crises is that we are skeptical about anything that threatens our personal investments. Read up on the 50 years or so leading up to the destruction of Pompeii for a case in point.
