lokeshdhakar.com — I?m new to the world of fancy coffee drinks. With the vast number of ordering options and new words with accented characters to pronounce; the coffee shop ordering experience can be intimidating. I?ve created a few small illustrations to help myself and others wrap their head around some of the small differences.

Well said. Except for the part where you call us all "yanks." Such an unfortunate nickname for a people.

the espresso is in fact brewed--expresso is coffee that has been roasted almost to the point of being burnt. A small amount is "brewed" to create a shot glass full of liquid called espresso (which i think loosely translated means pressed coffee since you really have to tamp it-the ground beans-down to get the flavor during brewing). After you have a shot of espresso you then proceed to make a drink out of it. an americano is a shot of espresso watered down.used to be a barista...

Iced venti iced coffee unsweetened no room. All I want is a large iced coffee, it's coffee, with ice, in a cup. Starbucks is a pain in my ass... but the coffee is sooo good.

Not only a douche, but also totally wrong. A latte brings out different flavors from the espresso. No, the coffee's not as strong, but it's rich and delicious. As a (former) barista, I think people should drink what they like.

I used to work with a guy who did that to cappuccinos -- deliberately let the milk separate -- because he wanted to make them really "tall". Yeah, he was pretty much of an idiot.

when I worked in a cafe, we made macchiatos with steamed milk, then foam, then pouring the espresso in the center through the foam, forming the mark that the 'macchiato' refers to.
