If I see that, I naturally assume that what ever I am installing is evil, supports malicious code and is a harbinger of trojans, virus and spyware. Thus the only safe thing to do is to open task manager and kill the entire install process, everything else, every button, method that appears to exit or decline is still under the control of the programmer and they have obviously demonstrated their evil and untrustworthy intent.
@Lone: Thanks for clearing that up, missed it somehow. I have seen similar situations to the one I described though, where a toolbar MUST be installed. And that's bad news.
It would be a much bigger story to look at all the things bundles with the "full" package of the HP drivers (the HP J4500 series specifically). You have to go into a customize screen and ready *everything* very, very carefully or you'll end up with 200 megs of about 30 things much worse than an ask toolbar.

It could be justified if any of these toolbars conceivably offered some usefulness to a few users, but really they're just ads.

@Atario: It's a bonsai tree/Bonzi Buddy hybrid. Cuddly and excruciatingly boring.

I used to use Trillian for the longest time, then I tried out Pidgin, that was ok for a while, but nothing has compared to Digsby yet.
