Legolas, I know about the Soviet occupation of the eastern bloc during the war and I agree, the way they treated those people was no less despicable than what the Nazi's did. My point was that Germany was the aggressor against US allies and were a much bigger threat to the rest of Europe at the time and had to be stopped. Hitler, in his arrogance broke his agreement with Russia and attacked them which put the US and it's allies in a much better position to liberate France. Had their pact not been broken, the war may have turned out differently. Like I said, The US and Britain did not trust Stalin or Russia at all, but had no choice but to work with them to defeat the Nazi's. To suggest that the US should work with Germany in conquering Britain and inevitably the rest of Europe is absurd.
The 1.1 million figure was derived from a theoretical simulation of the camp. The vast majoroty of the evidence still says approximatly 3 million jewish deaths.
My European History teacher mentioned a former Iranian leader from about thirty years ago during class, and one of the students' immediate reactions was to ask "was he a terrorist?"*Facepalm*
RLY.Some wingnut searched the world over and found some references analogizing Bush to Hitler. No mainstream US media. No representatives of the Democratic party. A few cartoons in underground papers, one guy at a protest in San Francisco. My point was that it was not widespread is valid. 70 marginal references in the whole world in 8 years ... out of 6.75 billion people. Not widespread. Not defended by the mainstream media. Not stated by American politicians.Look, Dems recognized that Bush had a lot on his plate. He did not ask for 9/11. He came into office under less than optimal circumstances. He was not fast on his feet when he spoke off the cuff. He trusted Cheney and Rumsfeld and felt they burned him. He wasn't Hitler. He was in over his head, but he tried. He did a lot that his party wanted him to do, and he had Rupert Murdoch firmly in his camp the whole time, even if most people, including Republicans, in the end, thought he was one of our worst presidents.
