Alright so what you are saying is that crap was originally referring to the toilet which I can understand, I've heard the story of Crapper though when I heard it his first name was John, hence the toilet being refered to as the John. The only problem with this is that it didn't start the phrase "taking a crap", it started the phrases "using the John" or "Using the Crapper" because your using the thing that Mr.Crappers name has been attached to, not stealing the toilet.
