lewrockwell.com — Our politico-centric pain and suffering has been brought about by our having allowed external forces to move in and occupy the vacuum we created at the center of our being. The only way out of our dilemma involves a retracing of the route that brought us to where we are.

"That is why I have so often stated that freedom and liberty DO NOT favor the masses." CaptA your comments consistently illuminate the truth in a direct and unique manner. I sincerely appreciate your perspective. However do you really believe that freedom and liberty DO NOT favor the masses? Personally I believe freedom and liberty do favor the masses. In fact I believe freedom and liberty are the only hope for the masses. In my opinion without these human virtues the future for the masses is very bleak. As I see it what needs to happen is a sea-change in thinking. The masses need to understand that embracing freedom and liberty is not only the practical thing to do...but also the only moral course of action open to human beings. Once that is understood then everything else should fall into place. Of course this bedrock philosophical concept is completely antithetical to what many people are taught. Hence we find ourselves in the mess that we inhabit. As an optimist I am convinced that it can be done...but I must confess that at this point in time the journey appears to be very long with no end in sight. At least I can take comfort in what I think and what I can do. I suspect you do as well.

At least I can take comfort in what I think and what I can do."————————————David, thanks for sharing you views. Let me say that I once shared your enthusiasm about the necessary change that might allow the “masses” to be favored by freedom and liberty. As a young naval aviator back during the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict I had not formulated any philosophical views or for that matter political views about freedom and liberty. I followed orders. From experience, I was one of very few (the only) officers in my unit to question “why” were we there? As I became intimately familiar with the “politics” of these failed adventures, I found myself steadfastly clinging to values taught to me much earlier in life. The problem fomented. I “knew” first-hand the moral turpitude of the vast U.S. military empire and didn’t “blink an eye” at the transgressions formulated at the Pentagon. I witnessed live, the initial support of the American masses for wars. Again, you already know: we were not attacked. We were the aggressors. I looked to see why the masses of people would NOT think for themselves on such horrendous issues—as war. Why? After nearly 55-years, having lived and visited more than 65-different countries, a ray of light came through. Government controlled schools, the pledge of allegiance, tribal inculcation of the masses via carefully-weighed propaganda, that’s sanctioned at the highest levels of government—were having there desired affect. These bellicose and pugnacious attitudes are buried DEEP in the psyche from earlier inculcations. Having achieved the goals, the government’s spring-loaded masses of non-thinking asses stood ready to spring! (9-11) Yes master... I rebuked senior officers who merely accepted and NEVER questioned orders. You see it today don’t you? If the brightest and sharpest minds fall prey to the propaganda, what could you expect of the masses? Personal responsibility is defined by a specific set of values created by the State. The context of words isn’t really questioned. To a person born blind, explain the color “red” to them. It cannot be done. Does “red” mean size? So, I started to recognize that the amount of “personal responsibility” required to judge scruples was askew. It was OK and “right” for the marine to follow into battle, the will of the masses socially acceptable sanctions—and “murder,” premeditated even. Why do you think so many admirals and generals “retired early” to get away from the Cheney-Bush mentality? Whose morality is being followed? Anyway, why didn’t the American people respond BEFORE the tragedies of war occurred? Why do you think the word “average” exists? I could go on-and-on... After being alive—at least for me, paramount are the conditions of freedom and liberty—to be lived, not just talked about. You aren’t free in America. How about not being a “slave,” with your pockets stripped via tribute? The masses accept “plunder,” then praise and VOTE for/in their “democracies.” Then twenty-seven plus years ago I left America, the land of the free—only to find that there were places in the world with GREATER freedom and liberty! Wow! Could it be that the entire world was different from the American inculcation of government schooling and propaganda? You’re an optimist, so you state... I’m a realist. I merely use the “experience of life” (nothing supplants it!) to formulate my judgments. I seek “truth” above all. Twenty-six years in the navy and I saw no real change or slowing of the military-industrial complex that Dwight D. Eisenhower warned about in my era. No, freedom and liberty “favors only responsible, thinking individuals!” Slaves don’t think; they do what they are told. Those individuals that REFUSE to partake of, or bow to government or State plunder, and seek through “action,” NOT talk, are the ones that earn the tasty meal of freedom and liberty! Most rant about freedom and liberty as they march on to get their government pelf. To spend time herding cats (masses of people) is a frivolous waste of time. And, TIME is finite, not to be wasted trying to change people! Only people can change themselves ... how true that is. Thanks for your comments. I value them. Just look carefully around you David ... you’ll notice the ever-growing looming problem—even if you are an optimist!! Check 6, Capt. A. Switzerland is a beacon of light to those seeking greater freedom and liberty. And yet just think—there are places even freer in the world! Experience tells me so. Forgive the prolixity!

David, here’s another example of the “moral turpitude” exhibited by the U.S. military. Senior officers are very well aware of all facts surrounding these uncontrollable actions. American citizens, represented by the Armed Forces of the United States, are the architects of their own dilemmas. As I mentioned in my last comment, “premeditated murder” is a “socially sanctioned” and acceptable event. The problem lays with facts that an indictment could climb the ‘chain of command’ dragging that “moral turpitude” all the way to the top, including the commander in chief, the potus. So, at “war college” we were instructed to “nip it in the bud,” one form of “damage control” that allows fault to center on subordinated ranks of the enlisted. Anytime a senior officer acts to quell the true reasons behind UCMJ violations with impunity, the entire fabric of the State is in peril. Taxpayers are “dumb cattle” unaware of the cover-ups—of the real “incestuous relationships” that are protected at ALL costs. Admirals and generals “retire” to distance themselves from being “tied” to these cover-ups. Sad. True. I know, I was part of it. The “masses of asses,” the rah, rah, rah gang (9-11) have no real clue—and chances are they really don’t give a damn about the underpinnings, lies, fabrications and the prevaricators that purvey. There is no such thing as a “morally correct” position with regard to military sanctions. Again, sad but true. The same thing is mirrored on the civil-side of government, the State etc. Corruption is rampant and profound... This is historical fact, a sickness—and unknown to the masses. Government-controlled schools; with citizens that possess not an inkling of what I’ve stated above and again, could care less...
