koin.com — They say they waited for hours outside a local best buy store to buy the new Xbox 360 then were told the price would be different from what was advertised. Employees say management took advantage of the situation to make more money.

I think bait and switch is a bunch of bull as well. Nobody is forcing ANYONE to buy ANYTHING. Don't like the offer, don't buy. If everyone took this position rather than bitching to the government about business practices, places like Best Buy would suffer severe financial harm.

People simply choose a company to hate, and then proceed to flame them, ignoring all common sense, and the fact that imperfect humans run each store, any store, differently from the next. I'm sure there's a Fry's out there somewhere that people hate. I'm sure there's a gas station attendant somewhere that pissed you off enough that you no longer buy gas there. Management is in place to make decisions, and as many of you know, those decisions aren't always the best, and certainly aren't always moral. People get screwed everywhere, and I'm sorry it's happening to you. If you don't like Best Buy, move along to Circuit City... remember them, the ones who started that divex disaster? Everyone makes poor decisions. Quit the bitching.

I work on the Geek Squad at the Best Buy location in question and can say that this has been blown out of proportion. The smallest package was an Xbox360 and two additional games, not hundreds of dollars of accessories like the media is reporting. People in the line outside of the store were notified of the packages over 12 hours before the launch occured and then the morning of the launch package prices were lowered. People are going to buy games for their system and maybe even some of them might want things like extra controllers or DVD remotes, so they saved money on things they were going to buy anyways. When I first heard about the packaging when I walked into work on launch day it made me feel like we were screwing over the customers but who is going to buy an Xbox360 (aside from someone who already purchased the games and controllers) without accessories besides some assh**e who is going to put it on eBay and price gouge someone on there much harder than Best Buy's packaging, which if you look at it logically is actually a good deal.

with this much s*$@t flying around the room, I don't know what to believe and what not to believe. I however, Digg this story because BB's customer service sucks. It was good at one point, before you had to call 888 best buy for everything. the Local store management has very little say over what they can do to help customers, and I've not seen one helpful thing come out of their corporate number. They held my mom's laptop for 2 months fixing a "14 day" repair job. and my own experiences with replacement plans are too ridiculous to even mention here. Well, I'm stepping off of my soap box now. Just know that this holiday season, and most likely every one to come, is going to pass without me having spent a penny at BB

False advertising ... If you've been subjected to this fraud, sue them and win.

Who cares. Yeah it suck that they would lie to them like that but this wasnt something setup by best buy corp, this was the store manage acting alone I know that. The fact is these people had a choice to say ok thats fine or say no bye and leave. The problem is the consumers giving into this kind of treatment because they "can't wait another day" then you can expect to pay. Why don't you get pissed of at ebay for letting people auction off 360's for double the price? People are dumb enough to pay that much let them. The price wouldnt be so high if people wernt so desperate to say "I got mine right when it came out." I stood in line the day the ps2 came out but if the place i was buying it from said oh you cant get it unless you buy 2 game a memory card and an extra controller i would have said f**k off and left and never purchased one there.

Tobiah says - "SUPPLY AND F'ING DEMAND PEOPLE."Amen brother, Amen. Not only that, I would like to do a test, and gather the names of all of the people here that are complaining about Best Buy, Wal-Mart etc... and then, the next time they cross some "percieved" legal line with their sales of a product, I would like to see how many of these knuckleheads are still shopping there, and posting new complaints of some grand moral infraction on the part of a store.RELAX PEOPLE! Best Buy has every bit as much a right to make a buck as you or I do. I can guarantee that every piece of literature, ad's and otherwise, go through the hands of about 50 high paid, well educated lawyers before they are published, they had their legaleze somewhere on that add. And yes, I feel bad if some kid saved up his pennies and couldn't get his 360 at launch... that sux for him, but for cryin' out loud most of you are acting like they beat the kid up and STOLE his money... then shot his dog! there are SOOOOO many other things in this world that are WORTH getting worked up over, Best Buy and Wal-Mart are not anywhere NEAR the top of my list.Happy Holidays all! The local Best Buy here never did this. It had to have been a store management decision to do this. Even if the extra items were things that people would need eventually with the xbox, its still wrong to force them to buy it. However, I do agree with what some people said earlier in this. I'm sure there are stores out there that everyone hates. I'm sure there are people out there that are dead set against Circuit City or Wal-Mart. Point I'm trying to make is, its useless to hate a company based upon a few bad stores. Granted there are people out there that have had multiple crap experiences at Best Buy stores, but there are just as many people who never have a single bad experience. Don't believe the hype

Bastards, that's all I can say.

Yea while i hate the "Man" shaftin a "Brotha" just as much as all these other one line Flames. I am sure this was localized to a few BBY stores. Although i can not say i am surprized, I will not say that i will never shop there again. Because that is just a lie. All sales are high pressure and BBY is not excluded. So screw it, BBY is just one of the places I love to hate and especially love s**t like this. If i were outside of a Best Buy as this happened i know this would not change what i planned on buying, no matter what asshat i had to argue with.

Jerks :( Although that's like the only electronics store really closely so I have to go there, but their displays are horrid, such as non-functioning disks, pads/accessories stepped on with shoes, I could go on for hours. They do occasionally have good prices but that's only if it is value software (Read: Nintendo Players Choice games/Microsoft Xbox platinum games.)
