daringfireball.net — There?s a lot of jackassery to pick apart in this short statement from NBC Universal executive vice president Cory Shields, responding to Apple?s ?don?t let the door hit you on the way out, idiots? statement yesterday, but I?ll focus on this curious tidbit for now:

@ zybch : " ... Its thanks to Apple that DRM was and is so widely adopted by everyone, they opened the flood-gates and everyone has been screwed ever since. " You absolute tard - talk about complete disconnect from reality : Apple wants to run iTunes with NO DRM AT ALL - the only reason iTunes has DRM is completely due to the content providers INSISTING that DRM be included. Please read ( if you can concentrate on something for more than 3 seconds at a time ) this on Apple's stance on DRM :http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughtsonmusic/ An extract : ( in case you don't have the mental capacity to click on a link ) : " ... So far we have met our commitments to the music companies to protect their music, and we have given users the most liberal usage rights available in the industry for legally downloaded music. ... an alternative is to abolish DRMs entirely. Imagine a world where every online store sells DRM-free music encoded in open licensable formats. In such a world, any player can play music purchased from any store, and any store can sell music which is playable on all players. This is clearly the best alternative for consumers, and Apple would embrace it in a heartbeat. If the big four music companies would license Apple their music without the requirement that it be protected with a DRM, we would switch to selling only DRM-free music on our iTunes store. Every iPod ever made will play this DRM-free music. "

I was thinking I read that iTunes basically saved the "The Office" from getting the boot. The show was getting poor rating but selling huge numbers on itunes. They must have forgot that part.

"We need to remind people that usury is a moral and civil crime."Really? I'll remember to tell that to the mortgage company charging me interest on my home loan.

@nephilirnxThat's the stupidest thing I've every hear? The average ipod user DOESN'T have a video ipod, and reads the newspaper on the weekend? If Apple has 70% of the market on MP3 Players (World Wide), then who's exactly is the "Average Ipod User", You? That can't be, because the average Ipod user would never say something so stupid.
