crooksandliars.com — According to McCain, the surge is working! and the streets of Baghdad are safe for Americans to go strolling down. The only problem? Michael Ware, who is, ya know, in Baghdad, says McCain hasn't a clue…

"How many of you have written to your elected representatives? *crickets chirping* "My Representatives have either been 100% for the war, or 100% against it. Either way, writing a letter is useless.

Actually, the last quote was from today. Here is the quote from yesterday."[McCAIN CLIP]: General Petraeus goes out there almost every day in an unarmed humvee. I think you oughta catch up. You are giving the old line of three months ago. I understand it. We certainly don’t get it through the filter of some of the media."<a class="user" href="http://thinkprogress.org/2007/03/28/roberts-cnn-mccain-iraq/">http://thinkprogress.org/2007/03/28/roberts-cnn-mccain-iraq/</a>Where does it say "streets of Baghdad are safe for Americans to go strolling down". Sensationalist journalism.

Okay, let me save you and us the next 2 years... no one gives a s**t about Ron Paul. HE'S NOT GOING TO WIN.

>I think it's fair to say this quote is fairly represented by "the streets of Baghdad are safe for Americans to go strolling down". That is why liberals can't see the liberal media for what they are. What if I said the same thing about Detriot? "There are neighborhoods in Detroit that are safe to walk in" does not imply that you can go strolling everywhere in Detroit safely. That is a blatant misrepresentation. It's just amazing to me that you can't see it as such.>A bit exaggerated in some sense yes, but the short characterization could be read as "there are streets in Baghdad where.."Ah well there are probably streets in Harlem that are safe to walk too...

@MacSuxWindozSux>They manipulated the intelligence to justify the invasion.Did they really? Did they manipulate Britain's intelligence too? And France's? And all the other intelligence services that agreed with our assessment?>There were also many many statements saying they knew exactly where the weapons where but for National Security reasons they couldn't publicly disclose. Is that surprising? Apparently you don't know much about National Security.>So people trusted that they were doing their job. That is the downside of elected officials. You have to hire them based on their character and hope they'll do what you expect them to. >There wasn't an intelligence failure. Before the war they were leaking out info that the CIA had no idea how the Admin could make those claims... then they restructured the agencies and suddenly there were WMD's but no specific info, and no weapons.Where are you getting this?>Someone starts mailing anthrax to politicians, and the FBI traces it back to a government lab and it told to terminate the investigation.Where are you getting this?>Colin Powell later goes to the UN Security council holing a vial with white powder looking like anthrax exactly, and talking about Bochilinim Toxin (spelling?) Iraq's feared WMD... The only problem is, the Toxin is actually a black fluid, You don't think he knows that? He wasn't an avid supporter of the war - you think he'd lie about it to take us into war?>and the UN experts know Saddam hasn't made anymore of it, the issue is stock piles. On top of that? anything Saddam had, would have already expired and been useless.Oh, didn't know stuff like that expires. What is the expected life of that toxin? You know what doesn't have an expiration date... uranium. And, we thought he had that.>What about when Dick Cheyne invited all those oil lawyers to his office to rewrite environmental laws, and suddenly the records of his visitors after 200+ years were nolonger accessible to the public. Of course if thats proven he goes to federal prison. That pertains to this argument how? Again, where are you getting your info? If you say ThinkProgress, I will be sorely disappoointed...>Why don't you break this down into small sentences and selectively spin this? Thanks, I will since it's so easy to do!! I prefer to attack point by point, it's much more effective that way than making blanket statements like most people do.

First of all, I have a cousin who was in Iraq for two two year terms, and I have another one who may get deployed there when he finishes training. And, the US gets a majority of its oil domestically. It's China who should be invading countries for oil.And lets not forget that Congress authorized his use of force in Iraq. Hell, I even think Hillary Clinton voted for it. But whatever, I need to do my math homework.

the US gets most of its oil domestically? You mean, from in the United States of America? I think that is what is meant by domestically...and what does that have to do with where we WANT to get ALL or MOST of the oil from?Good that noone can paint us as Nation Builders, War Profiteers or Agressors...that would be really sad. Money does not = TRUTHand no amount of BS you regurgitate from those who worship it will change that. These lies are being perpetrated for what is to come. I hope your all ready...

According to this (biased) source, there ARE streets safe enough to walk down. Well, as safe as Detroit at least :)<a class="user" href="http://www.army.mil/-news/2007/03/22/2358-surge-pays-off-in-baghdad-district/">http://www.army.mil/-news/2007/03/22/2358-surge-pays-off-in-baghdad-district/</a>

The only question now is, who's the crook and who's the liar? I think the republicans are the crooks and the democrats are the liars. Or maybe it's the other way around. Either way you both smell like something I can't mention here.
