blogs.pcworld.com— More than two years ago, I blogged about the preview version of Flock, a browser, built with Mozilla Firefox at its core, with a social bent. I said it showed promise and said I'd keep an eye on it.

every extension for firefox ive tried works with flock. firebug, adblock plus, fireftp, image zoom, ie tab. im a opera user, and used firefox for webdevelopment. now im just going to use flock, the web2.0 stuff is great in my opinion (lets see how many fanboys digg me down ....)
actully the first web browser was called the worldwideweband it was created by the guy who created the world wide web (as in the part of the internet that runs websites that browsers access)WHY DONT U USE IT BECAUSE I THINK TIM BURNERS LEE KNOWS WHAT BROWSER TO RUN ON HIS PART OF THE INTERNETU LOOS
I don't care about Facebook. The best thing about Flock is the most excellent del.icio.us and ma.gnolia integration. Much better than what you can do in Firefox (if you use both as I do).
The plugins to make FF even half as useful as Flock would crash your computer everytime you opened the browser. Flock on the other hand takes up as much memory as FF did, but it does 10 times more. It makes browsing almost obsolete due to the many many features included. Also, I noticed some of the comments mentioning it's too cluttered. The sidebar can be left closed except when one of the icons glows orange alerting you to check the appropriate area, the media bar can be left closed except when in use, there's no need for any toolbars to be installed without specific need for them. I've run FF and compared it to Flock, you get only slightly less screen real estate with Flock. I've installed only addons that were needed. Most of the "fun" addons are memory suckers that don't do anything useful not already included in the Flock browser, but there is one or two that won't work with Flock. It runs 98% of FF addons and does so as well as FF ever did for me. If you're looking for page to page rendering times and that's it, go somewhere else. Flock does everything at once, makes rendering pages something you only do for fun. For instance, instead of checking myspace, Flock does it. Instead of checking Facebook, Flock does it. Instead of checking my email, Flock does it. Instead of going to youtube to see if any new vids by the people I want to see vids from have been posted, Flock does it. Flock checks Digg for me, NY Times for me, CNET for me, Flock holds the images I want to save and send to other people, Flock lets me post to my blog at any time without going to my blog page, Flock lets me upload all of my photos one time only and then just post them straight from the browser to any site I want. Flock lets me search youtube without going to youtube, photobucket without going to photobucket, flickr without going to flickr. Flock lets my internet experience be about me instead of about the browser because the browser does the menial tasks. Sure, page rendering time isn't as fast as you'd like it, but if the pages you're rendering are your email, youtube, myspace, facebook, twitter, your blog, NYTimes, CNET, Digg, Google, Ebay, Wikipedia or any of the social bookmarking sites, then you're waisting that quickly rendered time. I can do a youtube search while checking my email, checking all RSS feeds, Myspace, Facebook, writing a blog and posting it all while staying on the same page I'm at and never leaving it. Flock isn't busy or cluttered, it's well organized to a point where you can focus on the task at hand and only that task. You don't have to wonder if you have new email halfway through an article, you don't have to wonder if your favorite youtuber has posted a new vid or stop what you're doing to save a pic and not know where you saved it when you're ready to use it. Flock takes care of the business so you just worry about the pleasure. Flock is the internet unshackled. It lets you do what you want, how you want, when you want. Like I said earlier, if all you want is a fast page rendering time, go somewhere else. Flock isn't for you, you're not ready for the freedom it brings. If you want a full internet experience, allowing you freedom from the menial tasks, full connectivity to any and every social networking site so that you barely have to think about them to the point where you don't use the internet the same way ever again, get Flock. It's stable, it's easy to use, it has more tools than most people will ever need and converts users from first use. It's the opposite of Google Chrome in that it actually works 99.9% of the time and supports adblock. Oh, and I don't get paid by Flock, I'm just a very very satisfied user spreading the word.

As a desktop browser I am not too fond of it, but as a mobile web browser, it kick arse.

Have you looked at it lately? I find it quite nice. It's much sharper than Firefox.

the GUI is annoying, it's hardly a minimalistic design
