I think you have missed the real point of this article. Its not that bacteria are making people fat, but that fat people will tend to have more of this certain bacteria that may be helping them stay that way. Think about it: the body is an amazingly adaptive organism. Keep overfeeding it, and eventually it will adjust to make the most of what you're giving it. Please, the last thing we need is another excuse why "it's not your fault you're overweight"...
No, I think YOU missed the point, read the article again. No one knows why some people have more of the good or bad bacteria. And I'm sorry, I know that sometimes it's not a person's fault....though more often than not it is.
