Our top military commander, General Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is now suddenly announcing, just in time for the Iraq debate in Congress, that Iraq has suddenly improved amazingly! Even Baghdad, according to Pace, is amazingly safer!

All sources have a bias, but I'll reference a few. I'm referring to deaths in Iraq as a result of the March 2003. I'm also counting sanctions imposed through the 90s (these held during Clinton as well as Bush the first). According to a report by Johns Hopkins University, there have been as many as 654,965 Iraqi deaths since the invasion began. This estimate accounts from March 2003 to July 2006.<a class="user" href="http://www.jhsph.edu/publichealthnews/press_releases/2006/burnham_iraq_2006.html">http://www.jhsph.edu/publichealthnews/press_releases/2006/burnham_iraq_2006.html</a>I don't know what you consider a credible source, but every person has bias, so take your pick. There are a number of sources you can easily find on the net discussing the deaths of Iraqi children caused by sanctions. Many report 500,000+ deaths. Some report as many as a million deaths.This is all for, what I would argue, is strategic control of oil reserves.
