arstechnica.com — . In short, the US government wants to treat eBay as a "broker" who would then be required to file notices with the government about how much money its traders have made. The US proposal calls for this reporting to take place only when people sell more than several thousand dollars worth of merchandise in a year.

You forgot something. The money that was used to buy said TV was taxed when you earned it.

how would they ever go about even tracking ebay? just because i have an auction that shows the item sold for x amount of dollars, that does not mean that I actually got paid. So how would they know what I got paid for and what I didn't?

if any of you morons think rich people pay taxes now, then you have zero concept of the tax code. And not talking about class envy bulls**t--I'm talking real life application.

It won't hurt eBay. They'll just raise their prices AGAIN to hire more people to complete the paperwork.

Actually, a government that takes my tax dollars, oppresses the poor and spends money killing people around the world is EVIL. I will do everything in my power to keep them from stealing my money to kill people.A government that takes my taxes and provides every U.S. citizen with healthcare, welfare, free college, etc. can have a portion of my money. In fact, I'm willing to pay more taxes so a more socialist government can help people. Don't ask me to fund murder and expect me to be happy and compliant. So there is your lesson in compassion and humanity.

Do you know what pays for the items you listed above? It's not the income tax you're so desperately supporting. Check your facts prior to lambasting someone with a brain.
