IBM's record on these jams is terrible. Two years ago, they held ValuesJam, which was supposed to be about the values IBMers held dear. Someone twisted what employees said and decided to use it as evidence for a major headcount reduction. They also used it as justification for splitting EMEA into two regions. Given that IBM hasn't done the same split to either Asia or Americas, I guess it now admits it was a terrible mistake.Still, the IBM Board cited ValuesJam as one of the reasons for giving CEO Palmisano a big pay rise in 2005.
