The problem is that polluting costs less than "being green". The economy is not based on being moral, it's based on profits: if polluting more means cheaper products and bigger margins, then the polluting products will always prevail. One way to fix this, and maybe the only way, would be to tax pollution, so as to make the pollution a part of the economy.
yawnstretch;FINNALY!!! Someone who has found his "on" switch to the brain; Face it, thereis no future for the human race on planet Earth. Even if we avoid the stray BIGrock, our sun will nuke us sooner or later. If you want to see the human race survive, we MUST leave the planet. Just how you can do this without technologyI am a little unsure. For the enviros, returning to nature is kissing our ass goodbye. No future in sitting around canpfires and singing. If you like the humanrace, then you must persue technology, so we can handle little problems likea rock the size of Mt. Everest coming at us, until we can leave this island. I like the Chinese saying;" If there is no food on the table, there are NO otherproblems".

Gotta be a chasm if we are going to have a sense of humor about all of this... Gotta have the sarky-chasm.
