Sorry, vex, m'lad, but the burden of presenting the evidence falls upon he who makes the accusation. And most of the time, those such as your self who get hostile and tell people to "Google it" are presenting evidence that's easily refuted. No, I'm not refuting your allegation. I see no need to until you present something to back it up. From your comment history, you're not a particularly reliable source.

Clinton's deregulation of the housing market started this massive problem. McCain stood up in 2005 and cosponsored legislation that would have quite possibly averted this market meltdown. However, Chris Dodd, the biggest recipient of Fannie Mae campaign contributions, also committe chair for the committee presiding over this proposition, killed it in committee. HHHHHMMM, wonder why Chris Dodd didn't spur the rectifying legislation along. And Obama is number 2 on the Fannie Mae contribution list. Wonder why he did nothing about it when he had the chance? Here are some facts surrounding this issue you can read up on:http://www.freedomscost.net/?p=1067Being the fair minded person I am, McCain has also received campaign contributions from Fannie Mae. Yes, McCain has some FORMER lobbyists on his campaign staff. Obama hires FORMER Fannie Mae CEOs and other FORMER Fannie Mae senior execs. Hiring people out of one of the biggest institutions that created the massive defaults in the mortgage AND financial markets doesn't appear to be the smart thing to do to me. In any case, McCain saw this problem more than 2 years ago and cosponsored legislation to fix it then. Unfortunately, as quoted in the article in the above link, prominent dems in congress just didn't see a probolem and therefore, killed the bill in committee. Senator Obama wants to talk about change. Where was he when time came to change this problem more than two years ago?

@ vex Franklin Rains has never been anywhere near the inside of the Obama campaign, let alone being among his economic advisers (as is the rumor floating around on right wing boards, which by the way are about as credible as most of the garbage that comes out of the Huffington Post). He was a major fund raiser for the Obama campaign, but quite honestly no one can control every single person that donates to their campaign. Rains said himself that the last time he visited Obama was in his senator's office in Illinois before Obama had even declared his presidential aspirations. As for Jim Johnson, his only role within the campaign was to vet the VP selection. He has no position on the campaign. I don't think anyone is going to hire people to vet the vetters, would they then in theory need to hire someone to vet the vetters that are vetting the original VP vets to make sure they don't have some shady connection? So no I'm not in a state of denial and I am not the slightest bit convinced that Obama is in deep with these people. I am an Obama supporter but I don't think that I am on this bandwagon of muckraking over stupid inconsequential things to the presidency. I focus on the real issues and unfortunately for McCain, he loses on this one simply due to the fact that his advisers in the inner circle of his campaign have shady connections and are lobbyists for various companies.
