blogs.zdnet.com — This week brings the CTIA wireless powwow and a bevy of new (mostly smart) phones. Palm?s Pre is on the runway. HTC is launching new Google Android phones (and ads to go with them). Nokia is paying attention to the U.S. again with a thin smartphone. And even Motorola has a phone that looks pretty good.

The app store is an overrated boondoggle filled with a handful of useful apps that are also available on other platforms a few genuinely clever products unique to the platform and the rest is all fart noise apps and color matching games. And very few developers are actually making any money on it. Unless you get featured on an apple commercial, nobody sees your app once it's fallen off the "What's new" list.

It does make for an interesting stat. how many people digg blindly per article per submission. And more importantly can we get a list of the biggest blind diggers.

I don't think anyone is going to beat Apple anytime soon because of their App store as well - but the other App stores will do pretty well in the long term I believe. Making iPhone programs requires Objective C and an Intel-based Mac. Companies can afford this, but independent developers don't want to learn a new language and shell out $800 for a new computer. The four App stores coming out within a year will all be easier to develop for because of their languages (Pre is using JavaScript and HTML, for example) and the fact they'll all run on Windows and Linux.iPhone is ahead of everyone know (as they should be), but it's just not developer-friendly.

I have the Southeast Asian version. It has slightly different features and configurations. I realized that when people with the US version was telling me that their Blackjack didn't have a 2nd camera, etc.I don't care about browsing, but it works just as well as perhaps Nokia but of course not iPhone or Treo--those phones were made for browsing. I pretty much just care about texting fast.

Yeah, when I meant online. They're computers. I don't think these devices have firewalls?

No security info... no digg. Whoever categorized this story on digg needs to go back to adjective school.Oh wait... the user's name is BadQat. He can't spell either ;)
