Isn't port forwarding a pretty obvious thing to do when you're behind a router or firewall? Another thing that can speed up your download is UPLOAD some clients disable sending files to you if you don't send anything back. Upload speed should be set around 50%-80% of your max connection speed for best results.
really lame... anyone who uses BT should already know to do that, I mean if you can find any TV Show, movie or mp3 you want then I think you're smart enough to open ports.
@ormesher101: It's still possible to upload to other peers while firewalled, just not to other firewalled peers. That's what really kills your sources and, generally, your speed too.
Guys. I found a brilliant trick to improve your d/l with uTorrent. Just using a random port, update my trackers as often as possible, and most important: Depending on which programs you use, select each and everyone one of your torrent tasks and set the max upload to 1 kb/s or less. It worked right away. i was only getting about 150 kb/s on good days, after i made those changes it popped right up to around 400 kb/s on my 4 mbps connection. Try it. I'm sure it will work. Most people say you should set upload speed to around 60-80 %. I say 0% :D
