I use FUPPES, an open source media server on my XP machine. I tried TVersity and something else, never got them to work and they bogged my desktop down while running. It took me less than 1 hour to get FUPPES up and running, and it is fairly lightweight.http://fuppes.ulrich-voelkel.de/
I dunno. Streaming media would satisfy my need to geek, but it just seems like a lot of extra work and hardware when I could just burn a CD/DVD or use a flash drive.
Have you ever gotten hulu to stream to your xbox 360? I have a similar setup to you, and I agree that UShare does the trick for streaming media to my xbox 360. I just wish I could use my xbox 360 to access hulu.

I use PlayOn. Works like a charm. $30 after the free-trial though.

David, could you please share which HD-over-component video card you use and how you connect your DirecTV HD box to one of your HTPCs.
