Speaking as a chef, this is not really "perfect" unless you consider frozen tv dinners "haute cuisine." Fun for the kids, though, get them interested in the culinary arts.
I did this quite a bit when I was in Boy Scouts on camping trips. It may 'look' crappy, but it doesn't taste crappy. The things you add in there work pretty well, and it is a lot easier then breaking out a skillet while camping or when you just want to be lazy and all the skillets are dirty.
trust your instincts; this is not a good idea nor is it an omelette. it is only really a good idea for camping and people with difficulties taking care of themselves.
This actually does work on gas stoves, unlike what he said in the video. I have been doing this for quite a while and it works great. It tastes just like any other omelet, and requires almost no work at all (very little cleanup, too). And despite the fact that the bag does touch the sides of the pot, the bag does not melt wherever there is egg inside of it. The egg actually prevents the bag from melting and ruining your omelet. This is a great way to make an omelet, as long as you don't mind it taking twice as long as frying. :-)
I tried this.I just moved into a new home and had no other practical means to cook my eggs. I used swiss cheese, 3 eggs, and a generic brand "ziploc" bag. The eggs tasted ok, no match for my cooking skills however. This was on a gas stove, btw.If i never digg another story - this might not be safe way to cook eggs haha.knock on wood.

Alton Brown would roll over in his grave if he saw this....and if he were dead.
