@Aeiri That brings up a good point. Would you really deny someone employment because you found out they find girls attractive and may like pornography? How many white/blue collar workers don't? While "embarrassing", it would be a crappy company who would deny you employment based on the fact that you dugg some anime maid game."Well Johnson has a PhD & McMillan only a Masters, but Johnson was on digg playing maid sex games. Let's go with McMillan".

@otto... Although sometimes it is nice to be (most likely) the only person with my name combination, it can get annoying because there is really nobody else that stuff can be blamed on

I obviously have nothing to hide, but if you think hiring racists and people who try to convert fellow workers by forceful means is fine then that's your journey in life. Personally, I could care less what someone's religion is. I work in a multi-national,multi-religious environment and do not tolerate hateful speech or bigotry. So yes. What you do on the internet can affect your employment chances. I don't just google someone and immediately think it's 100% true. However, if I find something and that person reveals it was them in an interview, then I have a problem.

I highly doubt you or other hiring managers even discuss negative things you find about a potential candidate from the internet. Doing so would put you in a bad position. "You're a religious nut case." or "You're a racist", are slanderous terms. You just shove a form letter out the door "We appreciated your interest in the position. However after searching for candidates we've decided to go in a different direction. Thank you for your time.". Wham nothing they can say to that. Posting that you thought someone was a racist or a religious nut case and you didn't hire them because of it looks unprofessional. It'll only make people more aware too look for slander/discrimination from your company. Would someone really take suit against you for it? Not likely.

Well that's easy... My RL name is the same as a very famous porn start. She's not a bad looker.
