cutlersoftware.com— Having problems installing something on your new Ubuntu operating system? This guide will help you understand!

This guide is almost completely redundant.Use synaptic, or download the package from the website and open it in the GUI just like the "exe" people love so much for some reason.Apart from that, if people really feel the need to compile and install their own apps, they can crack open the tarball by clicking on it, read the INSTALL file and get stuck in - but they'll rarely want to do that.
@selectodudeThe issue here is not my obvious ignorance (thanks for pointing that out btw) - the issue is why should I be expected to "work very hard" to get something to work, when I would/should rather be working? The problem has to do with your own post: installing something should not become a bragging right. That's the basis of my entire point here.
Do a search for files ending in .dll some time.Look at the duplicate names. Notice how many of them are slightly different versions (hover mouse over the name). Why is this? What was changed in the higher version, that some of your programs don't have? Are those programs missing out on bugfixes?Security updates?

@doodlesNo it won't. Tried it - and even according to their own website it won't.
