boston.com — Do you ever want to change the way you see the world? Wouldn't it be fun to hallucinate on your lunch break? Although we typically associate such phenomena with powerful drugs like LSD or mescaline, it's easy to fling open the doors of perception without them: All it takes is a basic understanding of how the mind works.

if you do the pinnochio one with another dude and do it with your dicks instead of your noses, would you feel like you had a really long dick?

@feignNUi really dont think it requires to be certain about something to propose an explanation, and suggesting that we remain skeptical about any claim is something inherently beneficial as well. its empiricism and scientific inquiry. your consistent claims that "no one knows for sure" reeks of solipsism. no one knows for sure if this is all an illusion yet you still take it for granted correct? why is that? basic logic and empiricism show evidence that this is a consistent universe that has evidence in the physical everyday events of life but because of our own limitations and perceptions, its unlikely we will ever achieve 100% accuracy in any claim that we make, we can only make observations and claims based on available evidence etc. this doesnt mean that this is a useless endeavor, and if you really believe as such, i feel sorry for you.they may be speculating wildly, i dont know if they have done any experiments on the matter. i was just saying that sensory deprivations have caused alleged hallucinations etc and white noise has caused increased rem activity, this HAS been shown through extensive experimentation and documentation.

I get this when I'm falling asleep in a spot that I don't want to, like in a chair in class or on somebody else's couch or something. That's the only time though. I'll be zoning out, and next thing I know I am tripping over a cord or falling off a roof or something stupid, and I wake up with a jump.

I get this too, usually when I'm really tired. I'll just hear somebody yell my name inside my head, or I'll hear a pop. A lot of times, if it's a pop, I'll get a big flash of light at the same time (synesthesia). I only get the pops when I'm falling asleep at my desk or something.
