ghacks.net — I've been getting dozens of emails containing pdf files lately and the author of the article is describing two methods on how to filter these email messages in Thunderbird. It is possible to adapt those filters in other email clients that use message filters as well.

A bit misleading because there's nothing very specific to PDF spam here, but they aren't bad tips anyway.
