intelliadmin.com — Remote desktop is a nice feature of Windows that lets you remotely work on the system as if you were there. Many times you find that you need it enabled - but the machine you are trying to access is tough to reach. This is a simply way to remotely enable it.

Every windows admin knows this. You have just proven that IntelliAdmin's claim that "There is nothing within windows that will allow you to enable this feature (terminal services) remotely" to be complete and utter bulls**t.

Why don't we all just make programs that change 1 or 2 registry keys and sell them for like $10. That's exactly what these people have done. There's nothing special. This is just plain stupid.

You can just open up computer management and connect to a remote computer and start the RDP service. I do like the pretty graphics though ^_^

I use VNC from work to home, and I also use The Bat! email client. It has pretty strong abilities with filtering mail, and one of them is that it can launch programs based on whatever you like, including via regexp. I've made a simple mail filter wherein I can email my home account. When the filters see what I've deemed necessary for opening VNC, it launches it. A few seconds later, I'm in. Also nice when I have to reboot, as I haven't made VNC auto-startup.

Well I ended up digging this one anyway despite my previous comment simply because the email responses I got from the IntelliAdmin crew were knowledgable and reassuring, so Ill take this app for a shot anyway.

In response to IntelliAdmin2's comment "...opening the source won't prove anything":Actually, opening the source WILL prove something: That the developers of this software don't have anything to hide.

It's more secure to have something that both parties voluntarily connect to in order to share the screen. For corporate folks, Juniper SA-X000 boxes include a WebEx style meeting server that also serves this purpose. No client software other than a web browser (Mozilla, IE, Firefox, Seamonkey, etc) and Java. Also makes a great meeting server tool!!

It doesn't say how to do it!I have found another site where they explain how to program it using the registry, a WMI script or even C++.Awsome.<a class="user" href="http://www.vedivi.com/blog/2008/05/how-to-enable-remote-desktop-programmatically/">http://www.vedivi.com/blog/2008/05/how-to-enable-r ...</a>

I've been using Techinline Remote Desktop (www.techinline.com) for a few months now, and I got to say, it's probably the easiest tool to use for both the tech and the client. There is absolutely no installation needed since it is browser-based, and at $30 a month, despite not being as full-featured as some of the other services on the market, it's as low-cost as it gets.

I think some of you guys and gals are conspiracy theorists i.e. Democrats. From what I've seen so far, the people that put this stuff up for people to use are pretty good about being honest. Although I can't stand companies that do NOT tell you the limitations before you install their software. To me, that is being dishonest.I can forgive Bill for not telling Hillary that he was cheating. I would do the same thing in the same position. But not letting people know what they can and can't do with your software before they install your "Free" software is being shaddy. My favorite thing is NOT having to install a third party software to control a remote computer. I created a program to do that, the only thing I couldn't get to work yet is pulling from the Username and Password field to fill-in those fields in the Remote Desktop fields. i.e. My program opens remote desktop but you have to type the login information after the Remote Desktop program opens instead of using my programs Username and Password fields. My program uses build in Windows Programs to control different features of remote computers such as starting and stopping services, testing PHP, ASP, Cold Fusion and Telnet tests on different ports. It also does Traceroute and pinging IPs for Web Server testing. It's a single executable program with NO hidden agenda and you do NOT have to install it. It's totally free and has NO limitations.Drag, Drop and Execute. My favorite way of doing things. Just like the old days of Windows 2.0 and 3.1

But I would say that the best way to access any system is through web based remote access application because it does not require any installation on your system. Banckle Remote Access ( http://banckle.com/apps/remote-access/default.html ) is a web based application which is free for one year.
