I actually got into lucid dreaming by accident. It started when I had to do a couple EEG scans. The nurse never really told me what was going to happen, she just told me to close my eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. I would end up thinking about things, and the next thing I knew, I was asleep. Eventually, because I did these a few times, I realized that when I did this, I would enter the hypnogogic state knowingly. Since I often suffer from insomnia, I usually do this to get myself to sleep. I just breathe deeply and slowly, close my eyes, and let my thoughts wander. It always helped to let myself think about nonsensical things, but every time I do it I still have the awareness and knowing that I am doing it. Exactly like this article described, my thoughts then become solid things, scenes, and eventually an entire world in which I can succumb to and enter. The difficult part is the succumbing, because you don't want to try too hard or think about it too much - you just have to let it happen. I guess it is like a meditative state. I've never really been one for meditation and spiritual things, but LDing is definitely life-changing and spiritually healing. It is very much like a drug trip without the drugs, and opens your mind up. The world and reality aren't what I used to think they were.

This indeed is the most awesome experience you could possibly have, simply because whatever the hell you want to do can be done. Relive the past, blow up a city, go to space, have sex with famous people, anything! For anybody interested in how to become lucid, but don't know of a reference, me and my buddy recently set up a site just for that. Within it we've embedded an online flash digibook that I've created, The Lucid Dreaming Digibook (simple enough isn't it); I put over 20 techniques in there, each having tutorials and summaries. There's also information on other aspects of dreaming, like recall and shared dreaming (be lucid with a friend!).Anyway, the site is http://www.dreamport.net/ and you can locate the online digibook under the "Techniques" section. I've got some course-based software in the "Downloads" section there too that are worth checking out.

I've had lots of lucid dreams, usually it can lead to Astral projection. I meditate twice a day so that helps too. Support the Public Meditation Project! http://publicmeditationproject.blogspot.com/Love and light

I had a dream once that I woke up way too early so I went back to sleep. I woke up a little after but thought it was still pretty early. I almost didn't make it to work before lunch time. The Air Force didn't like that too much.

I have had very few of these in my lifetime, however, they are very fascinating.
