The main issue I'm having with iT7 is that it no longer plays through my airport express. It shows up on iTunes, but wont let me select it!!!! WTF Apple.
Using your iPod as a backup works only for music purchased through the iTMS. From the iTunes 7, transfer from iPod page:Music and media not purchased from the iTunes store only syncs one way, from your computer to your iPod. To transfer non-purchased music from computer-to-computer, read this tutorial. (The dated v6 tutorial explains how to consolidate your library, and then manually drag your iTunes Library folder to the iPod--used as an external HD.)
OK, I'm responsible for copying/backing up a huge amount of music for somebody. The scenario is:One eMac with a LaCie 160GB external drive. All downloaded music is downloaded to the external drive, and iTunes also points to the drive, successfully. All music plays as it should. No music whatsoever on the eMac drive (wouldn't fit since theirs 58GB of music). Regular backup of the eMac is made to the 160GB external drive also, which is now nearly full.I want to backup/copy the music from the 160GB drive onto a new 500GB drive. That is, from the 160GB to the 500GB, keeping the music on the 160GB. The 500GB would then be attatched to the eMac, and the music would be played through there as it did with the 160GB.The 160GB (with the music still intact on there) would then be connected to an iBook almost permanently, so that the same music can be played on the iBook.Anyone know the best way to do this before I try?I would consider backing up the whole library onto DVD first, IF the eMac had a DVD writer drive, but it only has a player and CD writer. I tried doing a straight drag and drop copy of the iTunes folder from the 160 to the 500GB, but this would have taken a minimum of 33 hours apparently. I also thought of doing a backup of the music folder using Personal Backup X (which came with the external drives).Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.F

Mike,Have you seen the "export iTunes library" function right above the back up to disk? You can put that on your external HD.

uh... or you can just use any burning program and drag and drop........ I don't see why people are so fascinated by this redundant feature...
