engadget.com — Ever wish you could use that friggin eSATA port TiVo taunts you with on the back of your Series3? If so your moment has finally arrived -- and not a moment too soon for many a DVR-loving TV fans whose drives are filled to the brim with HD programming. Best of all: you don't even have to crack open your box or nothin'.

Yeah, and you seem to have forgotten that digg has articles by the bucketload that are regionally specific to a greater or lesser extent, and that they get dugg by this international community just the same.TiVo doesn't retail where I live, I'm still interested in knowing this, sharing it with my friends who do have them, and if I get one when I'm in the States.

I have the cable companies DVR an SA 8300HD and it too has an eSATA port. The word on the net is that it does work and the encryption is box specific so just about uncrackable. You also can't control what goes on the external drive. Thus, you can't use the external drive as a mechanism to export programs to your PC. The only known way to do that is the old fashion way, play it back into your PC capture card.

If it has HDMI output, AJA makes an HDMI capture card for $250 which should do the job nicely.

It looks great too, it would fit right in with any other components.
