Funny that I read this article today. I've been messing around with getting 8.04 on my eeePC this weekend. No luck so far, but the article reminded me to set the OS install option in the BIOS. I had been using 7.10 on my eeePC for so long without any issues that I forgot about that option.I've used Ubuntu 7.10 on my eeePC for quite a while and it works just fine. After a few tweaks to make it more suitable for the small screen size I love it. The kids use it to video skype with their grandfather in Florida every Sunday and the skype goes full screen without a problem. The skype video quality is even better than on my desktop Ubuntu.I also like that I can have the same OS on both my desktop and eeePC. My wife has gotten used to Ubuntu and I like to keep things consistent.
Thanks so much for that link. I installed Eeebuntu just now on my 900, and it is freaking gorgeous! Everything so far just works. I was going to install Ubuntu Eee, but I was a little put off by all the configuration required afterwards. Eeebuntu installed in just over 30 minutes, start to finish. My boot time is around 45 seconds, but it is more than worth the extra 15 seconds or so of wait.

Adding new packages to Xandros Linux is just as easy. Ubuntu and Xandros both have the same package management, APT.
