fmshaon.blogspot.com — Internet Explorer 7.0 is the long awaited tabbed web browser by Microsoft. Nearly four years after the release of Internet Explorer 6.0, in the face of growing competition from Mozilla's Firefox, Microsoft has finally given the old IE platform a facelift. I'm not that much of a stickler for cross browser web-development where I'm going to waste my time installing SP2 just for I.E.7, especially in the sense that Microsloth is just trying to copy Mozilla's Firefox in their attempts to keep up.

Not that I'm defending IE or anything but, I recently had to format a laptop that came pre-bundled with XP. When I tried to validate the key with WGA, it told me my software (that I actually paid for) was "not genuine". There are plenty of us who are being forced to RE-purchase XP for stuff like this thanks to WGA not because we're "theives", so f**k off.

Wht a crap way. Just use this reg file. Run it before installing, and then you can install anything (wmp. ie etc).<a class="user" href="http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&batch_id=qBXWozFwoxM=">http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=batch_download&batch_id=qBXWozFwoxM=</a>

After installing IE7 using this method, I now have ctfmon.exe loaded on every startup, and it cannot be disabled. This sucks. I'm sticking with Firefox 2.0, and Opera 9.1. Both free, and have lots of features, and don't have such pain in the ass installers like IEf**king7.

Arbus, if you had ever done web development for IE6, you would understand why it should burn in hell. It starts quickly and runs quickly because it's closer to Netscape 4 in functionality and standards support than it is to any other major browser on the market. It probably supports less than half of the current html/css/xhtml standard, and I can't count the number of correct things that it screws up!! If you're interested in quick internet, check out FireFox with the Adblock Plus and Filterset.G Updater extensions, along with configuring quicksearches for every search you do on a regular basis. My brain would melt (along with my cpu) if I didn't have Adblock and the Filterset blocking most of the adds on the internet. My computer is slow enough without 30 extra flash animations running.

For non-commercial web development/design, I would just forget about supporting MS anything, and just follow the open web standard, forgetting the browsers that can't handle it. If people complain about problems in IE6 or IE7, tell them to report the bug to Microsoft. I would say the same for FireFox, but they've already fixed their rendering bugs in version 3.0.If enough web sites were pushing for compliant browsers, we might actually end up with a functional world wide web where information can be shared. As it stands we have a world wide "you must pay Microsoft your money and download this software if you want access to my information and use my services because we don't really care all that much about you as we do trying to show off by using the latest proprietary software package." At least it's getting better, and it's no longer common for a website to ban me for running Linux and Firefox (although Konqueror can still a problem).
