SmeRndmGy"watch office space. then find the office of the people sending you the faxes and smash their fax machine with a bat in a field somewhere while listing to gangsta rap music."No they didn't. They smash a printer from their own office because it keeps jamming. You must be thinking of "Office Space 2: Attack of the Killer Faxes".

I hardly see anyone with a fax anymore. A more useful article would be about Spam or Junk Mail

The remedies prescribed are worthless. Not only are the faxes sent from computers, whose hard drives are unlikely to be filled up with even an entire night's worth of low-res faxing, but you will almost never find a legitimate "return fax" number on these things.Come on, people: How many reply-to addresses on spam are real?

I threw my fax machine out, in 95, after it had a minor problem, and I determined That I didn't get but a Single fax about every 6 months that I needed. I was not faxing anything that really required a signature, but about twice a year. So, for this, I am buying supplies, and being awakened at all hours in the night?????Out in the dumpster she went. I just tell people there is email, and if a sig IS actually required, that I will go to a fax machine and send one. It almost never is, and I don't care.... No more of that, not to mention the extra line to the house(office).I NO Play, No More!!!Cyborg

Here is a new twist to the revenge.Let me start by saying "I have no idea if there are any legalcomplications with what I'm about to recommend". I have been doingthis for about five months now and while it has not directly reducedmy incoming junk it has at least giving me an opportunity to sharemy dislike of junk faxes with those responsible. (BTW MXRESORTSA.K.A. TRAVELCOMM, hates this)Here we go.This only works on faxes that list an 800 number call center, traveland mortgage stuff mostly.* Get yourself an inexpensive faxing program for your computer, Iuse hotfax.* Program your fax setting to retry failed attempts to 1000, or moreif your really upset.* Compose a professional letter asking that your fax number beremoved from all future correspondence. You can actually use yournumber however the risk of retaliation is high, and, as you alreadyknow this does not work. I prefer to list "my fax number" to beremoved as my State AG's fax number, just incase they should send1000 back. You could also use the FTC's fax it's on their website.* Now start the faxing. Send your fax to the 1-800 call centernumber NOT THE TO BE REMOVED NUMBER. A live person will answer thecall. I usually turn up the volume so I can hear the calls goingthru...all day.* You will hear the aggravation in their voice as the day goes on;profanity starts after about Ten minutes so if young ears may bearound be careful.* So far not a single time has the call center had a fax connected? So the retry-failed attempts continue until it has reached yourspecified number or until you get tired of it. Once they get a clueand hook up a fax were still prepared. Program your fax software tobroadcast fax to the following recipients. Yes that's right the same1-800 call center number repeated 1000 times. I used sql to createthe file and exported it to csv, but you could use any method youwant. The idea is that the fax program thinks it's sending out a faxto 1000 unique recipients, in reality it just keeps sending the faxto the same call center. Again while I have this already programmed,it has never been necessary, as the call centers have not had a faxso the retries have taken care of it.* After the initial profanity, the call center will resort toplacing the fax on hold. Which to me is amusing, not only is thiscall costing them (1-800) it's costing them more when they do this. The modem actually takes 1 full minute to reset when this happens. If your lucky you will even get the call operator who is such alousy employee that they will pretend there is a real call on theline? I envision some boil filled, pustulus looking reaper walkingabout making sure all the minimum wage, loser, ex collection agentsare busy, just my vision. I'm sure you will have your own once youhear one of these conversations.* Last bit of importance. My HP all-in-one came with software fordrivers setting etc. I have mine scheduled to forward all faxesafter 5:30 pm weekdays and all weekend to another number. Yes it'smy state AG's office. My business line simply does not get anylegitimate faxes during those times so.* There is probably a better number to have these faxed to. I'm surethere will be plenty of comment on this. If this personally offendsyou then don't do it. If however like me your tired of checking yournumber on the do not call joke list and your sick of the faxes thanmaybe this is for you.Did I mention that MXRESORTS A.K.A. TRAVELCOMM hates this?"May the FaxForce" be with YOU"
