Nice hack. It worked great for me. The way I understand this is that Feisty doesn't use the interface file by default, however, It is called upon during boot where it waits for a dhcp address (In my case I disabled my regular Ethernet port) Which makes sense to me as I use my wlan connection not my wired connection. I also understand that by # out my network card in the interfaces file, the card is not really disabled due to Feisty using the Network manager by default.
