If they're counting on the general public not knowing them, then they shouldn't make them something that is likely to be the very first password someone, who had NO clue what it was, would guess...
Actually, you can leave the power in. Just switch the jumper, press the on button and nothing will happen, switch the jumper back and then the power button will work again, and the CMOS will be cleared.
A number of laptops store passwords in nonvolatile "NVRAM," which is nothing more than a simple serial EEPROM. Data stored here can remain without power for many many years, although there are a number of tricks to get at the contents.
I have a Toshiba laptop with no floppy drive and a cmos wired to the board and no serial connector, model Satellite A105-S1712. I spoke to a Toshiba Reseller and he told me to take out the memory and there would be a pin I could short out. It says pad500 on the board near it. He stated for me to put a screwdriver on the two pins to short out the bios password and it worked. Please make sure power is off, I did do this without the battery as well. He got this strait from Toshiba instructions as he is an authorized Toshiba repair store.
Hello i work as a certified technician in Toshiba i can unlock ANY MODEL of toshiba. If anyone have questions feel free to write me to conradodav@hotmail.com. Satellite TECRA, QOSMIO, SATELLITE, SATELLITE PRO, PORTEGE BIOS PASSWORD UNLOCKER
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc. When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.B. By Using Software:I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just secondsBIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool Service: http://www.biospasswordrecovery.com/
If anyone needs or knows someone that needs help with resetting BIOS or Windows passwords then you are reading the right post. I have been in I.T for 11 years and can reset any BIOS password without tearing apart your computer and potentially ruining the motherboard. Manufactures charge unbelievable amounts and others charge only to take your money and not fix your problem. BIOS passwords I can do over the phone and email. Windows passwords can be done over the phone or email as well. Since it takes more time for Windows passwords I charge $25.00 and $15.00 for BIOS. I also specialize in networking, network security, and computer repair. For more information email Angel at "can_you_please_help@yahoo.com"
I have created a new email account that you can contact me faster. It is biospwdreset@att.net. So if you need a faster response this will be the email you want to send a message to.CPU

if the jumper is awkward to reach just short the two pins with a screwdriver rather than having to fiddle with plugging and unplugging the jumper

use the bios jumper.. or dipswitch, battery can be removed..or if your computer has it, use the jumper to clear the NVRAM.

there is no need to worry. There are many known ways to reset / remove / bypass the password:
* By removing the CMOS battery
* By using the motherboard jumper
* By using MS DOS command
* By using Backdoor BIOS password
but if it is the windows password, then you have to use a windows password recovery tool to reset the password, here it is:
