I always thought the Navy considered this when painting the inside of their submarines. However, having read the link it doesn’t seem to be that technical. <a class="user" href="http://habitability.net/bbdata/Shipboard%20Habitab">http://habitability.net/bbdata/Shipboard%20Habitab</a> ... Color (Surface Ships and Submarines). Officer, CPO and crew living and work spaces shall have an adequate number of different color schemes to provide personnel with a visual change in environment in their daily routines. The total number of different colors of paint and deck coverings used, however,should be kept small to minimize logistics support.

I just painted my room last week. I chose a very light blue, almost gray, and have dark brown items accenting it. Looks very good, and I guess it feels very good too.

I always wanted to do a dark blue room with silver ceiling (actually, Galactic Sky or Star Command blue and Space Dust or 100 acre Raindrops silver). I had a silver metal square tube bed with a black comforter and gray sheets so I could do that, but they got left in another state.
