lowendmac.com — Apple's attempt at creating a laptop Macintosh, the Macintosh Portable, weighed almost 15 lbs and failed to sale. On the personal behest of John Sculley, Apple contracted with Sony to create a smaller Portable and Apple developed two high end models in company. After 1992 and until the disastrous 5300, Apple was the leading notebook maker.

I own a Macintosh Portable and it's a great computer. No need for these newfangled PowerBooks. ;)

ultra bonus negative points for using an Adam Sandler movie quote to critique someone's grammar, especially for messing up said quote.

How was the PowerBook born? Easy, a sub zero refrigerator raped an iBook.

johnxstone, the powerbook came before the ibook lol

hah! I had a 5300. Total crap. didn't stand behind it despite an extended warranty. Last Apple I bought. Dell sucks, but if you buy the fancy warranty, they honor it.

lol, I actually found one of these macintosh portables at work one day. it was my duty to go through all the old computer crap they had stored up and throw away whatever stuff that couldn't be used anymore.the thing was extraordinarly heavy. it was basically a desktop computer with a screen mounted on it, and it had a handle on it, if for whatever reason you wanted to try to lug it around. i tried to plug it in and power it on, but it wouldn't come up at all. it eventually was trashed, I wonder if I could of gotten a good deal for it on ebay.
