torrentfreak.com— The MPAA seem to know where a camcorder movie was pirated. That's how they came up with the New York city stats. But how do they do it?

I see both the watermarks and the cue dots. Very annoying. The cue dots are easy to spot because they usually occur a few seconds before a fairly dramatic scene change... kind of ruins the surprise if you think a scene is going to continue for a while longer.
As far as I can see, that is pretty much the best that the companies can hope for out of this system. At best, you know where the video was recorded at. Other than pressure the theater, what is it good for? Assuming you paid cash, there is no record that you ever attended the movie. Even if there was one there would likely be other people in the theater, and they can't go after everyone. So really, these seem mostly useless unless you use them against the theaters.
Unfortunately there are more problems than just bad films.People have lost the ability to go out in public and act like polite human beings. We need to bring back ushers, although in this day and age bouncers would be more appropriate.I'm getting old :(
Uhh, have you ever even seen a good TS/TC ? Check out some of the releases by groups called "maVen" and "Asteroids". Alot of their releases get encoded and released directly as DVDR format themselves they really are that good.

carpespasm - you should check out The Prestige, it was very good in my opinion. Somewhat confusing at first but amazing at the middle and end.

Here's an idea for the MPAA: make good movies that people want to go see in the theater.
