Did someone just prove that the popularity of internet downloads of TV shows lead to longer story arcs, and therefore a longer attention span for humanity?Future Digg front page stories:McDonald's makes us skinnier because the amount of spandex in jeans has decreased over the last yearPS3 is the greatest console of all time because CNN is on 24 hours a dayFreebird is the greatest song of all time because the iPhone is outCancer has been cured because 5 1/4" disks are now obsoletePancakes are fluffier than they used to be because solar power efficiency has increasedThe universe is finite in size because my washer and dryer are stackable. The possibilities are endless when you abandon logic!
well, it does make it easier to be informed about recent history and don't listen to propaganda channels that only tell you "forget about everything, now listen to this new important piece".
We may have increased our attention span, but just spend a few days on digg and it will become obvious that we have also seriously degraded our critical thinking skills.
I suspect the author is talking about US TV which is just dumbed down nonsence, used to fill in the gap between the adverts. Certainly here in the UK we don't have this problem (well, we do on ITV but i never watch it). Maybe its just that someone started making TV for people with a brain and they found people watched it. JMO.
