csmonitor.com — US consumers' standard of living may drop as they pay more for foreign goods, but demand for American labor will rise, say economists. Last week, after the Federal Reserve reduced interest rates, the dollar fell to a level not seen since 1997. The Canadian loonie is now stronger than the dollar for the first time in 30 years.

Which president? Madame Clinton with her socialized medicine plans to drive everybody into the poor house faster (and sicker)?Or President Guiliani, who is still beholden to the New Yorkers who would also like to see us take out Iran and Syria while we're stuck in Iraq?

Remember the Great Depression of 1930's was a world-wide depression, not a US depression. If the US has another depression it will be another world-wide depression and our Euro and Canadian friends will join the US on their collective knees. BTW: this has nothing to do with content of the article.

The only way to fix this mess is too make Free trade into Balanced trade. This means no more trade deficits ever, and I do mean ever. Every trade deficit we had has taken wealth from an American worker and then giving it to the large corporations and maybe 10% to the Chinese worker. We have allowed the Chinese government indirectly govern our worker rights, pensions, consumer rights. Why? Free trade is a race to the bottom why? Every time a corporation can cut corners, cut its cost of doing business, it will. Time and time again. Every time a corporation can abuse a system flaw, monopolies, it will. The only way to stop this is will power control. If you think the consumer can do it alone, your wrong. How many people does it take to boycott Walmart to make a dent in Walmarts bottom line? Hundred of Millions? I don't know about you, but I know its going to be extremely hard to rally that kind of support when families are hurting.Since our government has giving the Chinese government a say in these rights. The law of supply and demand says if a business can produce something cheaper in China, they will move to China. Since our government has to lower business costs to match China business costs, the environment is hurt, workers lose all their worker rights, and wages hit rock bottom.China has the lowest worker rights among most nations. 70-80% of their population live in poverty by most standards. China's poverty rate is only 4%, but they only count food water and clothing. With shelter in the poverty line, the chinese have a massive poverty. Free trade capitalism will lead to one and only one conclusion. Corporations and stock holders will rule over the new wage slaves. With free trade capitalism, corporations will starve the intelligent by blacklisting, pay wages that barely put food on the table, and the education system is gone. There will be the wealthy born and the slave born. Once a wage slave, always a wage slave.

Don't buy the official inflation numbers. They are self discreting if you read how they are calculated - they leave out housing, gas & energy, & I believe food and health care. If housing goes up 10%, and most Americans spend about 50% of their income on housing, inflation should be 5%, assuming nothing else changes. Look up the money supply increases too - this is rather eye opening. The true inflation rate is somewhere around 12%.
