nytimes.com— After a three week saga, that involved a taxi, a stolen sidekick, a girl from corona, a man from Manhattan, and thousands of internet fans, the stolen sidekick saga concludes.

Well from the sounds of the main "How Not To Steal" page, it looks like Ivanna's name, address, and other personal information was already available to the thieves within the sidekick. They might already know the addy. However, I too wish charges were pursued. Having to give back the thing you stole isn't much of a punishment. It's just one of the times you stole that you didn't get to keep your loot.Oh well. Glad it worked out. I hope the arrest scares her a bit straight.
Legally, it is theft, as you're obligated to report found goods to the police in NY and can only keep it if after a certain time (I think 10 days) It goes unclaimed. Not to mention it is without question the right thing to do.
I read the original post and was glad to see this come to an end. You have to admit that unkind, uneducated, and border-line retarded (no offense) people will always get caught at some point. It just tastes better when it's done so publicly :)
Won't they get in trouble for changing their story over and over? You have proof they lied to the cops, and you have proof they threatened to assault you. So shouldn't it be more than some misdemenor theft charge? Perhaps you're not worried about it unless they try to sue? Would it be safer to sue first, otherwise it looks like you're the one leaving retalitory feedback (like on ebay when someone gives you negative feed back just because you rightfully gave them some)? I dunno, just thinking out loud. :)

Maybe your right. On the other hand, if the girl were a decent human being she'd have returned the phone when asked.

It's still not "theft" though.

I think this puts an end to thinking that a lost phone is lost forever. You can always get it back. (well if you have the free time and the energy).
