Mythbusters did a similar one about being shot at while underwater. The results were extreme from both ends. Even a .50c round would disintegrate upon impact with the water.
And the methodology they used was poor. shooting a bullet point blank into a dense liquid will of course destroy the bullet; however, if a projectile slows down enough(with bullets this can be 200-300 meters) it will indeed penetrate the surface of the liquid and strike targets that are not too far below the surface.
Those who say this is flawed, are correct. The human skin and surrounding tissue which contains the fat, are very elastic. Not only this, but fat is more like an oil liquid when hit with high velocity.A correct representation would have an experiment using a rubber bag full of lard.

We already have the Rod. And my car gets forty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it.

Does that mean that is good to be fat?
