finance.yahoo.com— Where do you rank as a taxpayer? You may not feel rich earning $35,000 a year, but you're in the top half of taxpayers. Make $70,000, and you earn more than 75 percent of fellow taxpayers.

There are a lot of people who commit fraud to get federal aid. I have a lot of distant relatives that have a lot of assets (probably not as much as a million), but they get free government housing, free government food, government utilities, etc. They work at places that don't file income taxes or file fraudulent income taxes. One thing we do need is reform. There is a big difference between a war veteran who lost a leg and can't work compared to someone who is perfectly able to work, but decides to pop out 3 babies and then live on the government check forever. My parents are very poor and a government social worker told my mom if she had a kid, she could qualify for 18 years of government assistance, that social worker was trying to help my mom cheat the system, but my mom refused to do something like that. I support my parents now. I have pretty high income, but I don't have much money left over after taxes. I guess if I encourage my parents to cheat the system, I would save a lot of money and they would get a lot of money too.
Introduce a national sales tax, and all tax issues will vanish. Those astronomically rich that generate wealth without technically earning income - yup, they'll pay taxes when they buy that 100" TV or that BMW. Don't want to pay taxes? Save your money,And to keep the tax progressive, you cut a rebate check up to the poverty line to everyone.Think about it. Filing taxes would be a thing of the past. Having to depend on "tax experts" to understand the tax code and get all possible deductions would go away as well.Even Warren Buffet came out last year and stated that due to all of the loopholes and exemptions that can be exploited by the rich, he ends up paying close to 20% in taxes, even though his income should technically put him into a bracket closer to 40%.Too bad congress is too inept to actually make non-cosmetic changes to the way government works.
Ha ha! No, I don't deny that many jobs pay according to the present need/demand for certain skills. But that's just the one side of the coin. There's also the fact that about half of the people I know owe their jobs to friends or relatives that let them get a foot in the door. There's a huge subset of jobs out there for which the required "job skills" are acquired on the job, and not separately as a pre-req to getting hired. What matters in these cases is basically luck. It's being likable. It's knowing people that can pull strings and make an interview happen. To generalize and say that salary earned in the workforce is based on these "job skills" is blatantly ignorant.
Sorry to breal your one track libtard bubble but i am not a conservative. Granting them amnesty would do nothing to help this economy. Hello! No "documents". That money all goes back to gudalajara while they leech off our welafre, healthcare and other public services- paid for by Americans.Illegal aliens are criminals (thus the illegals). Round their asses up and let then do the work they should be doing for America: making license plates
Im going to take it you're the type of person who hears Harry Reid say the Healthcare Bill will not increase deficit, and you believe him.The category for 97% is $32k and Up. Since $400k is more than $32k, it would be part of the 'Up' statement. Therefore, 97% encompasses the 40%.
LOL at that article. So the consumer has NO responsibility for their actions. And the Government is a benevolent entity deserving of the money it takes by threat of force. What is that study supposed to be? The new Socialist Manifesto? FTA:"The research also makes a variety of policy recommendations to align pay more closely with the value of work. These include establishing a high pay commission, building social and environmental value into prices, and introducing more progressive taxation. "Buried.
@DarkMatter911 - OK, well, if that's the case, maybe we should bring minimum wage up so that it's not BELOW the poverty line. ($15,000/yr is minimum wage rates, btw).
What amuses me is the way that a lot of people who are posting on this topic think that $100k/year is "wealthy".No, folks, depending on where you live, that's mid to lower middle-class.Try adding a few 000's. They're the people getting away with *murder*. And they're on a different ladder than the rest of us.

I don't believe him. But I guess I would just understand the chart better if it was actually based on %100 and broken down into divisions of %100.
