arstechnica.com— According to a recent job posting, Microsoft is looking for a marketing manager for Windows 7. If you got the job, what would you do?

Do they really even need to market it? I think the less marketing the better. Simply let people know ""Hey, there's a new version of windows" and they will come.
I would put Ubuntu (or any other easy-to-use Linux distribution) on all the installation CDs. I know it's not a good way for Microsoft to make money, but at least people would have a better OS.
You might have something there. Lee Iacocca, when he took over Chrysler, got rid of the executive team leading the company. His reason was that it was easier to train young minds than to retrain minds with an already set mindset. Can't teach old dogs new tricks. Do I agree with this for everything? Absolutely not. He may even have overreacted, but it's worth a try at Microsoft. But then again, the damage to the software industry is done and has been ongoing (like bone cancer) for the past decade with Microsoft eating away at the marrow of the industry and killing off solid organs that were necessary in keeping a healthy industry.
"Windows 7: It only took us three more years to come up with something that Vista should have been, even though that was three years LATE and with many features removed!"
I would market it like this, go to my site, read the detailed First Impressions, Watch the 5 minute HD Video Tour of Windows 7 Beta, install it on a virtual machine (using the installation guide at AtomicSub DOT net of course) fix any problems you run into with AtomicSub's bug fixes....What more could you ask for?Evaluate, play and than pay ---- trust me Windows 7 is the best OS I've ever seen from Microsoft.. It's great so far and it's still a beta...
I would do a "I'm a PC" commercial and I would show what a pc can do, not just show people that use pcs but actually show them using their pcs for just about everything. Then I would show people the huge amount of programs, hardware and accessories available for the pc and then I would remind dear old mac that, "Hey, you do know you're a pc too?" As far as I'm concerned they stop being macs when they switched to intel processors. They are pcs, made by yet another OEM. They can run windows 7 too under bootcamp and I'm sure they'll love it as well.
