@mistermusic: Please to explain how Leviticus 20 is a chapter of "recommendations" when it is filled with phrases like "they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them." (Part of Leviticus 20:13, KJV)
Christians just shouldn't be self-righteous douche-bags and there wouldn't be articles making fun of them. I would consider myself a believer in God, but i really can't stand Christians. They are so hypocritical, judgmental, and blind. They condemn other peoples sins to make them selves feel "holier", all the while they do everything the Bible says not to. Also, its annoying to think of how much blood has been shed in the name if Christianity, when the ONLY thing Jesus ever taught was love and acceptance. And Christians also tend to vote more Republican, like they didn't already have a thousand reasons to hate them. Also, church goers don't tip well. I guess all their Bible talk of "generosity" goes out the door when they leave the church.Double also, Digg says f**k you too.
From Brother Jeb's Wiki: "He often shouts, 'A masturbator today is a homosexual tomorrow.'"Odd, I've been masturbating for -years-... still not gay.
"We can all give examples of things the Bible says that are historically and scientifically inaccurate." -- Reading comprehension for the win.
That verse is about praying in public to earn the praise of other people. In the context of who this was written to, everyone was of the same faith (Jewish), and everyone would have respected someone who takes praying seriously. The passage is saying you should not do something considered good by your peers just so they can see you doing something they approve of. Although this same principle could be applied to preaching, we both know that lady is not impressing anyone or earning mans' respect by what she is doing. In fact, she is doing quite the opposite of what the people on that campus would praise her for. If applied to todays culture, I would say that verse would be much closer not to "Keep your faith to yourself.", but to "Don't hide your faith to win the approval of others."
